TAUNGGYI “FAMOUS HOT AIR BALLOONS FESTIVAL” IN MYANMAR

The capital city of the Shan State is Taunggyi in Myanmar. Visitors come to Shan state to visit Inle Lake for floating cultivations, fishing, One Leg rower, and Cheroot making factory, silk weaving and jumping cat monastery well known as Nga Phe Chaung Monastery and so on. Nowadays, visitors come and visit Taunggyi Tazaungdaing Hot Air balloons festival which held 6 days before the full moon of Tazaungmone (November).

 

Taunggyi Hot Air Balloons Festival is held every year in the end of the Buddhist Lent. It is traditional festival to pay homage to “Sulamani Pagoda” in the heaven by sending up balloons Light with different designs candles and on the outside decorated different colors cellophane lantern. Balloons are usually 15-20 feet tall and flame heats in the air balloons which are quick for ascending, carry about 10-15 foot tail, filling with several types of firecracker for continuous light of the balloons ascending. The Hot Air Balloons festival competition between villages for the best decoration and high flying balloons.

 

In Taunggyi, the hotel rooms are fully booked during festival time for high occupancy. Optional tour and hotel reservation are available to check from email contact, but need to check before your travel departure date.
